Why I built Worthbook

Hi, I'm Søren. I'm a developer in Denmark, and Worthbook started at our kitchen table.

For years my wife and I tracked our net worth in a Google Sheet. It did the job, until it didn't: too many accounts, too many tabs, and never a clear answer to the only question that mattered, whether we were actually on track for the life we wanted.

I looked at the tools already out there. Almost all of them wanted to link directly to our bank, and I wasn't comfortable giving an app those credentials just to look at my own money. The ones that didn't were either cluttered or trying to sell me something.

So I built the one I wanted. You enter your balances yourself, which turns out to be the point: the monthly check-in keeps you close to your money. It charts where you're heading and what it would take to get there. No bank logins, no ads, nothing sold or shared, and nobody to answer to but the people who use it.

If that's what you've been looking for, I hope it serves you as well as it serves us.
